This is an exceptionally high quality and versatile lens made by OpTex
from specially selected glass, a 1000mm. zoom, (14.5-480/960).
Primarily a film lens, it is equally at home on digital
video cameras, on which it is an ‘Electronic Cinematography’ lens,
which simply means that a film cameraman will feel at home with it.
Used by 'Planet Earth', 'Elephant Diaries', 'Oddie goes Wild', 'Autumn
Watch' 'Natural World' etc.

With its HD2x converter this lens is sufficiently high quality to
complement high-definition
and gives superb quality in standard definition.
It is ideal for wildlife or sport
and not over-big
esp. when you don’t have to carry
a
variety of other lenses about too.
It comes read to go on a base-plate
in its own soft carry case
that can drop into a hard case for freighting.
It is an enormously productive lens
with the 4.8-48/96 or HJ4.7x11 you have a range of 200:1

shot size be it right or wrong.
- You can get in close where others cannot reach.
- You can shoot a
sequence with the one lens, wide, medium, close-up and very close-up.

To
get the best out of this lens: |

1)
you need a balanced head tripod.
(We can supply, a Sachtler 20 or 25,
they are the perfect combination. Alternatively we
have a sliding
bridge-plate for your Ronford 4, or ours. )
The balanced head means that the camera and lens can be
balanced on the tripod, without the need for a sliding bridge plate,
so eliminating any tendency for the shot to lift or sag at the end
of a move,
or indeed to tip forward and go a. over t.!!!
2)
To optimize speed of use and leave one hand solely concerned
with focus change, it comes with a pan-bar operated
Microforce zoom control with clutch.
3) To obviate the need to repeatedly disassemble and
reassemble the camera and lens, we have made a soft case so the two
can travel together and it's straight out of the bag and onto the
tripod
4) The base plate does not have to be removed when attaching a
wide angle.
