The
Fujinon DigiPower25 1000mmplus
HD telephoto zoom lens with optical
image stabiliser, supplied by
wildlife production and equipment
company Lighthouse Films, has
recently received excellent reports
on its first location assignments.
Designed
specially for wildlife sho ots,
and the first lens of its kind to
be sold in the UK, this 25x
compact, long range zoom from
Lighthouse Films was
used by
Tiger Aspect for filming 'Final
Chance to Save - Gorillas with Joe
Simpson' in the Republic of Congo,
and 'Final Chance to Save - Tigers
with Sanjeev Bhaskar' in India,
both films being made for Sky.
Commenting
on the HA25, Steve Gray, Director
of Photography for both
productions, said: "The lens
is much smaller than similar types
and easier to carry.
Also
it is simple to set up, as there is
no need for an extra base plate -
and it operates with normal matte
boxes. The fact that it can be used
hand-held is also a real bonus.
With its image stabiliser we were
able to get exciting,
vibration-free, high definition
close up shots from a distance -
essential when filming animals such
as gorillas and tigers in the
wild!
It's a great lens, and I look
forward to using it again".
The
OS-TECH image stabiliser is an
important feature for the wildlife
cameraman - controlling vibration
and shake even at maximum telephoto
setting. It fits neatly to the back
of the lens allowing
quick and easy access to controls,
and can be used with other Fujinon
lenses.
The
HA25x16.5BERD, with built-in focus
servo, has a focal length ranging
from16.5 to 413 mm, 826 mm
with built-in 2x extender.
1032 with the Image Stabiliser
which increases focal length by 25%
and
cleverly separates vertical and
horizontal stabilisation. The
horizontal can be switched off when
panning. MOD from the front
of the lens is 2.2 m.
Weight of the lens (without hood)
is 2.9 kg, whilst the image
stabiliser weighs 0.84 kg
