Lighthouse
has adapted these cameras for wildlife film-making
Apart from the cameras the two kits are otherwise identical
also see Lighthouse DigiBeta790 and
Lighthouse BetaSX
The particular advantages of the lighthouse kits, for wildlife filming
are the green protective covers
-the colour viewfinder option that means you can find the lion in the
grass, the bird in the bush
-lightweight 6 amp Li-ion Time batteries that mean you can carry the days power
in your pocket
-and have
control over your power consumption. The mini-monitor is no weight
at all
-with the 790 cache board when you see the salmon leap, the kingfisher
dive, the fly land, press 'record' and you've got it. There's no
need to keep running and running.
With the HiDef 2x converter you have exceptional quality in Standard and
HiDef
-With Gamma cards to match Kodak film stocks you can be closer to that
film feel
-And all this is neatly packed and can go in the soft-case and rucksack
provided
-and then you can have a 4.8-48/96 superwide and The lens:

Lighthouse DigiBeta790 kit and the BetaSX90 kit are economically packed in Pelican cases in such a way as to be
easy to
carry and use ‘in the bush'.
The Peli cases have soft outers
that minimize vibration in the backs of Land-Rovers and shock in
air-freighting.
|
The
cameras, eyepieces and batteries have
green protective covers and specially made all-over green waterproof covers.
A HiDef 2x converter gives exceptional
picture quality in standard or HiDef

The cameras also have RTI (Run Time
Indication), that, accurate to 10 seconds, tells you, precisely
how
much run time remains: No battery run-outs at the critical
moment!
Nor nagging worries that they might run out. And the Li-ion
batteries weigh 'nothing'.
A Transvideo mini colour monitor, sharp enough to check back-focus,
can be clamped to the camera or tripod leg.
It weighs only
1.5lbs (as opposed to 21lbs for a Sony 9" field
monitor).
and with the radio link you could sit in the cafe with the monitor
and press 'remote record'
when you see the man-eater emerge!
A
colour viewfinder makes finding 'the bird amongst the leaves'
much easier and
makes the whole world look 'natural' through the eyepiece! Colour is an
essential part of composition

The
Lighthouse 790 cache-board continually
records whatever the camera has been pointing at in the 8
seconds prior to you pressing ‘record.’ Waiting
for the bird to appear, dive, re-surface, the polar bear to
emerge from it’s den? You don’t have to keep running and
running. When you see it happen, press record and you’ve
got it and everything that happened in the previous 8 seconds.
(3 secs. if the camera wasn’t turned
on!)
Sound from supplied remote or attached mics.or parabola, can
be recorded digitally
on-camera via leads or radio link.
Sound
kit is
available.
a pan-bar operated remote zoon servo is supplied with the
standard lenses. There is a remote on/off for the long

The cameras can be supplied with
any of the big lighthouse lenses, see the Lighthouse’ OpTex/Canon
14.5-960. This is an enormously high-quality and versatile film lens designed
for Super-16, but equally at home on DigiBeta790 or SX with which it makes an
exceptionally powerful Electronic Cinematography lens, superb for
wildlife. It comes with a HiDef 2x converter ensuring the highest
quality compatible with HiDef. The lens comes with a pan-bar
operated Microforce zoom control that leaves the left hand free to adjust
focus. The lens and camera (SX or 790) can be kept fixed together on
a specially made base-plate that can be quickly clipped, straight from the
carry-case, onto the tripod. This means that the lens and camera do
not have to be repeatedly assembled and disassembled. A remote
on-off eliminates movement on the long end when operating the camera. |
